Poor Little Man

This past Saturday night Zane was walking around the house carrying a big plastic cup he likes to take out of the bathtub...the rest of the family was sitting around the living room when he fell and started screaming.  Since he falls down all of the time, we didn't think much of it...until we saw the blood running from his mouth.  I admit I kind of freaked out...mainly because of the blood, but also because I couldn't see his front tooth anymore.  Long story short, the kid caught the rim of the cup on his front tooth and pushed it up and over from where it is supposed to be.  We are lucky enough to have a neighbor that is a dentist, so we texted him to see what, if anything, we should do.  He ran over to take a look and basically said there isn't anything we can do...hopefully the little guy's tooth won't die and turn gray (which is a good possibility).  I'm just glad he didn't knock it all of the way out!  Poor kid!

Z hasn't been too cooperative with me trying to get a picture.  His mouth has been so sore and swollen...this is the best I could do.  You can see his left front tooth has been pushed up and over.  My poor little dude.

Pictures of the Kiddos

I recently had a friend take Zane's one-year pictures.  It was kind of a nice change for me...I didn't stress over the kids' clothes or where we were going to get the pictures taken.  I didn't even get Zaney-Bug a haircut, although he probably could have used one.  I told my friend (her name is Lindsey, too) that I just was hoping for a cute one of the kids together, and one or two decent individual pictures of each kid.  It was a success!  Lindz did a great job working with kids who weren't in the most cooperative of moods (that is the Bluth picture gene rearing its head).  I was really happy with how they turned out...what cute kids, if I do say so myself! Blue Possums

This morning on the way home from taking Riley to school we passed a field of blue flowers.  Bailey pointed them out and said, "look mom, blue possums!"  I was confused because I had never heard of blue possums roaming around Utah...so I asked her what she was talking about and she said she learned all about blue possums in primary.  What?  I asked her if she knew what a possum was...she said it was kind of like a flower.  When I told her it was more like a rat, she insisted I was wrong because the song lady in primary was teaching them a song about blue possums.  Ding!  Light bulb went on...I had to explain to her that the song was about blue BLOSSOMS, not blue POSSUMS.  (Song she is learning is "I Often Go Walking").  She cracks me up!  Glad we clarified before she is up singing in front of everyone in Sacrament Meeting!

Happy Birthday, Zane!

Zaney-bug is one! Last Saturday was his birthday, and the girls were so excited for him to wake up so they could start celebrating. Of course, Zane had no idea what all of the fuss was about...but he gets excited when the girls do, so it was kind of a wild morning around here. Saturday after all of the girls' soccer games we went to Red Robin for dinner...then it was back home for a cake and ice cream party. Cory has hated that his boy has only had girl toys to play with (Bailey is always dressing the kid up in "pretties" and has him playing with dolls...drives Cory crazy!), so we made sure Zane got some "man toys" for his birthday. Trucks, trucks, and more trucks!
This past Monday Zane had his one-year check-up. He is still growing like a weed and is a BIG kid. Here are his one-year stats:

 - Weight: 26.2 lbs - 96th percentile
- Height: 32.75" - off the charts (doesn't get that from me!)
- Head Circum: 19" - 97th percentile

At a year, here are some of the things our little man's accomplishments and favorites:

 - He wears size 2T clothes...so much for buying things ahead of time - half of the things I bought trying to "plan ahead" he won't ever get to wear.
 - Z is walking all over the place...nothing is safe from his chubby little fists!
 - He HATES bottles...we don't even try to give him one anymore. Thankfully he has mastered the sippy cup.
- He still loves food...still haven't found anything he won't eat. He seriously eats more than I do!
- He loves to be outside...even more so now that he can walk.
- He slept through the night for the first time last night...hopefully that will start a new trend and he will keep this up!

We sure love this little guy! Happy Birthday Buddy Boy!

Look Who's Walking!

Zane has been walking around the edge of the couches for a few weeks now...but just this past weekend he decided he was ready to take off on his own. As of last Saturday, Zane started walking. He is pretty brave and doesn't hesitate to let go of the couch or wall and take off to where he wants to go. Most of the time he makes it to his destination without wiping out...but sometimes he doesn't! So far there is only one big bruise on his head...with more to come, I'm sure!

We've Been Busy!

We have had a busy month...and I like to use that as my excuse for not posting more pictures. Early in March we took a trip down to New Mexico to visit Cory's parents. It was a rough trip for little Zane (three days before we left he was diagnosed with a double ear infection and RSV). Not a fun little guy to travel with! While at the ranch we visited both of Cory's brothers that live down there, the girls played with and helped feed a few different orphaned baby lambs (all but one died before we left), and Riley even got to watch the men-folk butcher a cow (from beginning to end). It was pretty cold and windy most of the time we were there, so we didn't get outside as much as the kids would have liked. It was still a fun trip, though.

Bailey jumping on the tramp...love her face in this picture!
Zane in one of the rare moments on our trip he wasn't crying or whining. Poor kid was miserable.
One of the best parts of trips to the ranch...rides with Dad on the four-wheeler. Cory even was able to show them a dead coyote. So Awesome.
One of the only nice days while we were there.
A baby lamb attached itself to Bailey...we couldn't find it's mom and so Grandma and the girls started bottle-feeding it. Bailey named the lamb Black Ears (see, it has black ears). The girls were both kind of sad when Black Ears got sick and eventually died.

Riley and her cousins checking on the baby lambs.
It was freezing cold most of the time we were there...Zane didn't get outside too much because he was so sick.
Riley and Clayton being silly.
Kinda gross, but here is Cory and his dad working on the cow. Riley wanted me to take this picture so she could show her friends at school.

A rough week...

We have had a couple of little sickies around here the last several days...it has been a rough week to say the least! Bailey caught a cold late last week, and when she gets a cough and stuffy nose, everyone suffers. The wailing! The whining! Oh, my goodness! I don't blame the kid too much, though. It isn't fun to feel rotten. Oh, and did I mention the millions of tissues we go through? She reminds me of my great-grandma, Ivy (or Gommy). Gommy had a kleenex stuffed in every pocket, and Bailey follows right in her footsteps. She's 4 going on 85 when it comes to tissues in the pockets. You know she isn't feeling good at all when she falls asleep before 7 o'clock on the floor in the living room. Poor kid. Thankfully she is on the mend.

Little Zane caught what Bailey had a couple of days ago. Now it's his turn to feel rotten. He has croup and a double ear infection. Poor little man...like I said, it has been a rough week around here.

Bayz asleep on the living room floor...that NEVER happens!
